* INDIVIDUAL UNIVERSITY PROJECT

brand identity / graphic / industrial / apparel / sustainability / multi-disciplinary

[ 2023 ]

  • To create a brand identity for the 2032 Olympics, hosted by Brisbane, Australia - making sure to consider cultural, temporal, and spatial aspects into the designs.

    Include:

    • Logo: B/W & Colour (with safe zone)

    • Website landing page

    • Podium

    • Medal & Ribbon

    • Entrance

    • Staff uniform

    • Lower Third

    • Wayfinding sign design

  • This brand identity draws heavy inspiration from both opal and the Great Barrier Reef (GBR): two things that are not only iconically Australian, but precious & need to be protected

I found it especially important to shine a spotlight on the GBR as its’ preservation, particularly in the 2030s, will require global cooperation and ‘fair play’ - two traits the Olympics prides itself on.

    • Enhanced technical ability to extrapolate logo design to various branding/industrial design artefacts.

    • Improved ability to use place, time & culture to inform graphic designs.

    • Exploration into various design disciplines that I had previously less-so dabbled.

    Based on course feedback:

    • Logo was well-conceptualised, with strong iconography and typography

    • Interesting integration of the logo into the other artefacts through effective use of scale, colour, shape and pattern

    • Grade: High Distinction
